IK Gujaral PTU History: IK Gujaral Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar earlier known as PTU was established in January 1997 for advancement of Technical Education. The University has under its affiliation more than 400 Colleges which offers various Courses in Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Architecture, Hotel Management, Medical Lab Technologies & IT disciplines.The University has total strength of more than 3.25 lakh students approximately. The University has a mission to provide excellent education to the PTU students and make the affiliated Learning Centers as center of excellence. The University has more than 2000 Learning Centres. Now the distance education programme is being revamped and a lot of progressive moves to modernize the mode of teaching are being taken by the University. Interim Council of distance education has been constituted, which gives guidelines for the improvement of distance program are being undertaken.
